R.I.P dearest Donny Yap

My Donny passed away suddenly past away from a heart arrest at the vet today at about 4pm. He wasn't feeling very well for the last couple of days and didn't eat much eventhough we fed him with Chicken Essence and his favourite treats. He was struggling too much at the vet fighting for his dear life coz the vet wanted to give him a jab. He bit the vet's finger so the vet had to cover his mouth with a mouth hard. He was struggling aggressively till he shit and his heart just gave up all of a sudden.

Donny…if you are hearing this from over the rainbow from Mummy and me, you shouldn't have struggle and you'll still be alive today. You had an attitude problem all the this time. I'm deeply sorry and sadden to see you go this way….Donny. Mummy & I cried so much when the vet tried to resuscitate for so long but your heart went off forever…

You're not coming back to me anymore eventhough how much I cried for you….dearest Donny.
You were such a good pal except your agressive attitude towards strangers and me sometimes but you will always remained as my first beloved pet in my life.

Now that you have gone…Didy is so lonely so I put her in our kitchen so she could be near us all the time. Rest in peace….my dearest beloved Donny. I love you forever.

R.I.P dearest DOUGHNUT

my last remaining hammie DOUGHNUT passed away last night while sleeping in his home. he was the fattest hammie i've ever seen but lately due to old age, he lost some weight. he was always seen eating non stop like the picture above lying down and enjoyed munching away so that he can relax on his back instead of his little legs. usually he ate while half sleeping and then doze off halfway eating making him obese. i will always miss him dearly. Now he has gone over the rainbow to join his parents DINO & DUFFY and younger brother DUMPLING.

R.I.P dearest DINO

last night on the 5th of march, 2013, exactly after 9 months, DUMPLING's demise, his daddy DINO finally joined him over the rainbow after suffering from 2 attacks of tumour around his mouth for the last 5 months. we took him to the vet to remove the 1st tumour which grew outside his mouth which was as big as a raisin but a second relapse occurred again and this time it was a growth inside his mouth. he was very skinny and most of his fur dropped off due to the tumour which made him harder to eat. he was a great survivor and lived on soft diet like hamster jello, soft fresh corn and tiny linseed and vitamin drink as he couldn't chew on his favourite sunflower seed anymore. we didn't expected him to outlived his wife, DUFFY which passed away 3 weeks ago as he was extremely fragile. he couldn't see properly when he was feeding as his eyesight was deteriorating due to old age as well. he should be over 80 hamster age and was a proud dad to 4 pups which 3 had crossed over the rainbow. we used to put him together with his older son DOUGHNUT and he was always submissive to him as the latter was bigger in size but once we tried to put him together with his younger son DUMPLING, he was so domineering he almost bit off half of his DUMPLING's cheek! now he shall not suffer anymore as he has joined his family playing over the rainbow forever.
i will always miss you...my dearest greatest survivor DINO.

R.I.P dearest DUFFY.

on the 2nd day of chinese new year, we received a phone message informing us that DUFFY has suddenly crossed over the rainbow to join her younger son, DUMPLING. it might be due to sudden old age heart attack from the loud fireworks as she was very active and behaving normally daily before that. she even put on some weight and her fur was improving after we fed her some vitamins. Despite one of her hind legs was broken from climbling, she was the most active one among her family, always appeared at her cage door chewing at the metal bar when her name was called or during feeding times. she has been a wonderful mother to her 2 sons eventhough she lost her first litter of 2 pups which makes her a mother of 4 hammies. i bought her from a pet store in february 2011 and she was already half grown so that will make her probably over 80 years hammie years.
i will always miss her dearly...my dearest DUFFY.

my lord and lady

recently we took DONNY and DIDY to our apartment in cameron highlands twice and they simply loved and enjoyed the cool weather. the first trip was too cold for them as they were just wearing their normal clothes so we had to wrap them up in wool scarfs to avoid them from shivering. the next trip we got them thicker clothes and they looked as if they are in a winter place...hahaha!

R.I.P dearest DUMPLING

tiny pup dumpling enjoying his baby corn at my fingertips.
We will always missed you dearly...dumpling dear.

my dearest and youngest hammie, DUMPLING crossed over the rainbow peacefully this evening. we found him lying on the side of his cage and didn't wake up for his usual evening feed. reason of his demise is still unknown but i think it was due to the extremely hot weather. he was 13 months and 2 days old and always the smartest of all my other hammies. once he escaped from his cage by pushing his cage's door open all by himself and stayed behind the TV cabinet in the hall area which was located about 30m away and somehow he survived the 5 days by stealing DIDI's kibbles one by one, to and from from the back kitchen all the way to the hall and proceeded to make a nest inside the computer cabinet's shelves! he was the only hammie who succeeded his toilet training unlike his brother and parents.
ironically, it's exactly a month after my grandmama left us today and i pray DUMPLING will keep grandmama company and make her happy in heaven above.
i'm gonna miss him dearly...my dearest DUMPLING.

meet DOUGHNUT and DUMPLING~!

DUFFY's cute pups finally get their coat of fur after a week old which is very distinctive. Each one takes after the mummy and daddy. We aren't very sure of their sex yet so we named DUFFY's junior as DOUGHNUTand DINO's junior as DUMPLING. DOUGHNUT is more active than DUMPLING and it's beginning to stumble around eating brocolli and nuts whereas DITOO is happily snuggled in their ceramic pumpkin nest waiting to suckle on mummy. Both pups are very bonded with DUFFY and she has been a wonderful mummy, taking care of them although at times she is so exhausted with the breastfeeding, we had to wake her up to feed her with her eyes half closed to boost her milk feeding. DUFFY is very protective of them so when we tried to take photos of them, she will cover them with her body , breastfeeding them or pick them up and scurry back into their nest. These days, the weather is so humid so the heat makes her uncomfortable cooped inside their nest, she prefers to breastfeed them outside on the bedding half asleep most times. We took DINO to meet her and she was so excited and kept kissing and pawing him in between her cage metal bars. It's amusing to see their reactions since we separated them for a week now when DUFFY gave birth. Here are the hamstericfic pups~!

meet our dearest DOUGHNUT obviously taking after DUFFY's darker coat of fur :)

DUFFY preggie!

We didn't know for sure DUDDY was preggie but we noticed she was very tired and slept most of the time and looked fatter than usual. Here she was sleeping like a round furry ball, so cute and adorable! It was only about less than 5 days here when she gave birth to her 2nd litter of 2 pups, one looked like her and the other looked like DINO, the daddy!

aaawwww...look at those tiny whiskers and nostrils!

her rounded preggie body must be heavy for her tiny limbs to carry!

*zzzzzzzz...am a sleeping beauty*

*am somewhere between wonderland and slumberland*

*just a smile for the camera*

look the tired mama...all flat out enjoying a snooze!

bushy tiny tail with a "V" shaped darker coat...what a beauty!

my hammie, DUFFY became a mummy!

A couple of weeks ago, my poor hammie DUFFY gave birth to 2 pups but they didn't survived as both died, one was severely hurt. It was DUFFY's first time giving birth and I think she wasn't ready and DINO stressed her up, chasing her everywhere wanting to mate with her as hamster can be on heat once they give birth, thus they breed fast! We didn't realised that DUFFY was pregnant altho she seems fatter than usual and we thought she was putting on weight as she was eating more than DINO. One day we playing with her and DINO when suddenly she regurgitated some undigested melons seeds, corn and nuts. The very next day , she gave birth to 2 pups but Mummy and I was so sad when we discovered her pups died. We felt that it might have due to over playing that resulted her giving birth but we were clueless that she was pregnant.

Then recently, mum mentioned DUFFY might be pregnant again as she looked fatter and kept eating whenever we feed her. She would take the melon seeds from our fingers and kept them in her cheeks and then regurgitate them later, chew off the husk and eat the seeds inside. Mum noticed she was breathing heavily and getting tired more than usual so she kept reminding me NOT to play or take her out from her cage at all just in case she is pregnant.

Finally, on midnight 2nd May, mum heard squeeking noises and saw DINO chasing DUFFY trying to mate with her and about half an hour later at 12:30am , 3rd May 2011, as usual before she sleeps, she looked into the hammies' cage and noticed a cute crimson little pup wriggling inside the green ceramic home nest which she bought in Singapore for them. Next 15 mins, as she was trying to salvage the abandoned pup before it got hurt as DUFFY and DINO was running around, up and down frantically, she noticed another crimson little pup wriggling under their running wheels and quickly remove it with a spoon and put it together with the 1st born pup inside the green ceramic home nest.

After sometime, as DUFFY didn't seem to go near the newly born pups, mum transfered them to the highest level inside a tunnel nest hoping that DUFFY will have more privacy but she looked as if she was anxious, lost and inexperienced. Then mum decided to separate DINO and DUFFY with her pups. She put DUFFY and her pups into their old smaller cage where she has more privacy and intimate room to bond with her pups without DINO chasing her around to mate with her. Mum covered the cage with a cloth and shredded some soft tissue and in an instance, DUFFY begins to build a nest with the shredded tissue inside the green ceramic home nest and started to breastfeed her pups!

Later that morning, mum woke up to peep at DUFFY and saw her carrying one of her pups in her mouth and trying to make a more comfy position under the running wheel. She left the other pup inside the nest but an hour later, mum saw that she was breastfeeding both her pups under the running wheel in a more comfy position than the confined and cramped tiny nest. We just hope and pray this time, DUFFY pups will survive.

My hammie, DUFFY finally became a mummy! Happy Mothers Day! We know that one of her pups is a male but we will find out in another 2-3 weeks time so that we can name them. We have a lists of cute names and if the other one is a female , we shall name them DUKE and DUCHESS after Prince William and Kate who got married a couple of days ago. Other names on the lists are DIXIE, DINKY, DIPPY, DIGI and DUDI.

Welcome to the world, my hammie puppies! May you have a healthy and happy long life like your daddy and mummy! That's truly super hamsterific~!!!
